Finally finished my song that gives voice to a species in peril........the ORCA.
WE humans......... use SO MANY chemicals in our lives and industry. Wastes get into water from.....numerous sources....One problem with Orca calves is that residual PCBs (found in high concentratrions in salmon and seals) bioaccumulate in adult female whale fatty tissues. Then when a calf is being breast fed, and the mother is not hunting but using its fat reserves....the calf gets a megadose of DNA altering mutagenic/carcinogenic toxins......... causing misdevelopment and eventually its end.

Several calves in puget sound have been lost to this dilemma...........WE humans are experiencing similar problems..............with myriad chemicals......and their physiological effects on us.
